Its free. And there are a few things on it that I wouldnt mind seeing. But I feel like there must be some unforeseen downside to it.

Any thoughts on Pluto TV?

The ads aren't longer than regular TV, never had an issue with quality or buffering.

The only catch is that it's a set catalog of stuff that repeats.

Like the Star Trek channel is only the first 4 seasons of TNG on repeat forever. And since it's 24/7, it goes through it like every 3-4 days. And then they'll throw in the movies here and there and some of the Shatner documentaries.

Oh, so it is like a channel with a schedule, and not on-demand content?

It's great to use, I've been using for over a year now. I've found movies on it that I don't see on other streaming platforms

I mean they have sections dedicated to movies from the 70's,80's and 90's.

Horror section,etc.

I don't mind the ads because it's good time to find a snack, etc and the movies aren't edited.

It's a mix of both, but the channels are where most stuff is shown. I don't think I can on-demand TNG, but the movies I can.

Ok, just downloaded it.

The thing I was most curious about were 007 movies, since Ive only seen the Brosnan and Craig stuff. Apparently, the movies are on demand and theres a channel for 007. Nice.

Seems like the shows they air are super old and you can probably see elsewhere. Pluto TV is good for those who just need white noise in the background.

Oftentimes the ads will just pop up mid sentence, like they don't use natural transitions to where an ad would be from the original broadcast

The big problem is you're 90% beholden to their schedule, though there are ways to find the content you want and stream it specifically.

I also second CoasterFan's recommendation of TubiTV, the commercials are a lot less invasive and it's got a huge library of stuff.

Pluto is basically ViacomCBS's free version of Paramount+ but curated.

I would have preferred something like the free version of NBC's Peacock tbh. Especially since commercials are rarer and they reward you episodes with no ads for no reason.

Still gotta give both of them credit. Nobody else offers free versions out of the big guys.

There's no catch, as long as you're happy with less than stellar picture quality and a limited repeating schedule. Plus the ads, but that's to be expected.

Lol. There's really only a handful of "good" channels on Pluto. The discount sci-fi TV land channels the one that plays Mystery Science Theater constantly and the comedy central. You can tell it's a free service though as they will play the same episodes on repeat throughout the day

It's weird watching classic Doctor Who with ads, but other than that, it's a wonderful service. Certainly no catch.
