So I'm finally buying my first car and I decided to use Carvana. So far 10/10 would recommend, but I don't have the car yet so we'll see.

I'm financing through bank of America because it was cheap and low interest, but apparently they require something no other bank requires: your name to be on a master list that's sent to Carvana every day. My loan got approved online but I have to call and confirm to be put on the list. This week I spent about 7 hours on hold with them. Plus they were closed on Thursday for the holiday.

Finally today I walked into my local bank and they don't have someone who can help me in person and the person I did talk to said that on the weekend the application department is open but the approval/confirmation department is not.

Tl;dr don't finance through Bank of America.

Hey man, congrats! I recently got my first car also about a month ago and tried to use Carvana, but it didn't work out. That's weird you gotta go through all that though, I never heard of that before, then again I don't have too much experience with car financing. I got my car through some dudes called Lendbuzz which I have absolutely never heard of, but surprisingly it has been pretty painless.

Congrats to you too!
What car did you end up getting?

I chose Carvana because I'm absolutely not a car guy so I wanted something that I knew would work and not get scammed by some used car dealership.

If you can get me a Pokemon I'll take it. How's the gas mileage? Will the groceries not be destroyed?

Its ability is rough skin, might not be best for transporting heavy load but it can surf really fast

BofA is indeed a shit bank

Pull all your money out and go to a different bank after of during this. You shouldnt have to jump through hoops to get financing from an institution thats been using your money to finance others.

Oh those Smart cars are cute, and I imagine great for the city. I'm pretty tall so I went with a 2019 Kia Optima. I'm excited to get it and start driving it. One really nice thing about Carvana is that you can swap it or return it within a week with 0 hassle, that was a big selling point to me. Where do you live that they couldn't deliver?

I'm glad you had friends that could help you out. I just moved from CA where I had a bunch of car friends, but I don't have any here.

Yeah I've been wanting to switch to a credit union but that's harder to do without a car. So I will after this!

Nah, it wasn't that they couldn't deliver, it's that they didn't have the car that I wanted. I even put $100 down on preordering a Smart, but it never showed up on the site before I bought it from someone else.

Far as height goes, one of the big things I keep hearing is that people are surprised with how much space is inside. One of the main vids I like to show is this one when people ask if I can fit comfortably in there or not:

https://youtu.be/WKZfyLggWHI

^ If that man can fit, anyone can fit.

I tried joining my job's credit union solely so I could get a loan for this car, but unfortunately due to COVID, it was super hard to get any tellers to talk to, so I went with the dealer's option. But from what I hear, credit unions are god-tier when it comes to this kinda stuff. Or at the very least, just bank with Chase. When it comes to the big, soulless banks, I have 0 complaints with them.

Oh wow that video is surprising! If I ever move back to CA I'll look into getting one of those. Smaller cars are great for driving around LA.
And yeah, that's what I've heard about Credit Unions too, nothing but good things.
The only thing I need to look into is what national brands are the best as I will need to travel for work occasionally.

But so far all the hiccups have been on the bank end, so we'll see. Thanks!
