Note: I highly encourage watching the video below. This topic is really just a Tl;Dw of what it proposes, but the way the author plays with the idea is fantastic.

The rules are as follows:

• There is a machine that prints out real money for you when a person presses the button.
• In the moment you press the button, your consciousness is exiled to an alternate dimension for five-hundred million years. There is nothing you can do during that time but wait, pace back and forth, or draw on the endless floor.
• At the end of the 500 million years, you return to the exact moment you pressed the button, and the memory of waiting all that time is erased.
• Thus, once you get the money, it is as though you received it instantly at no cost.

It's just your consciousness. You can neither die nor sleep during the years. But at the end, it's erased, and there is no mental damage to you in the long term. At the end, it's really like you got a million bucks for free. But in the interim, there's a lot of waiting that you forgot.

still Ill pass. Thats practically like an eternity of torture as far as the human mind goes.

for like 500 billion and I come back with guaranteed perfect health and fitness for life and a magic spell I can turn on and off that makes me the most famous and beloved person on earth whenever its convenient (like basically dethklok in metalocalypse level fame but irl) then I might maybe think about doing that to myself.

some countries use white room with constant light as torture and it breaks people in just a few days. Even people who could tolerate physical torture cant deal with it.

even if its like it never happened that is an inconceivable amount of suffering.

Fuck no. Sure I won't remember it by the end but it's still an insane amount of time, it would be pure seemingly unending torture. The worst part being that I would put myself back in that nightmare because I obviously forget afterwards and believe it was instant.

yeah its an amount of time a human cant even truly comprehend with no escape in sleep or activities or anything. Just infinite time to think.
