If she has beans on toast, the beans have to be in a separate bowl and the toast on a plate

She has a ton of like chip and dip plates with a separated bowl portion in the middle. So if she eats Spaghetti Bolongense, the Bolongense is in the middle and the Spaghetti is around it

if she has sausage and chips or fish and chips she creates a wall with the chips of the ones that have touched the fish. Then doesn't eat them or the end of the fish

She said she can't eat sandwiches, pie or pizza.

I wanted to point out that all that food is going to be touching once it's inside her but I'm not that much of an asshole.

it's a mild EDNOS condition (eating disorder, not otherwise specified) with an overlap of OCD, and as a previous poster said it's not that uncommon for people on the spectrum.

Finicky eaters are just the fucking worst. I went to a wedding and the brides brother - in his 30's - couldn't have his foods touch.

His mother (on a walker) legit had to go to the kitchen and make his plate so that the Cornish hen, roasted red potatoes, green beans and (IIRC) sweet potato didn't touch.

There were also silverware requirements for the "kid" but I had fucking heard enough by that point. Grabbed a vodka tonic at the bar, returned to my table, enjoyed my meal and then the rest of the evening.

I prefer my food not to touch if they are gonna mix. Like in your listed examples fish and chips are both fried and have more solid exteriors, but something like beans and mashed potatoes would end up mixing
Not gonna complain if it happened, just not what I would prefer

Something like pizza, spaghetti bolognaise, sandwiches, etc. where the foods are supposed to touch doesn't bother me either

I was like that when I was little and still am to a much lesser extent.
Never had any problems with pizza, spaghetti, salads,... and the like.
But I still dislike when different ingredients that aren't meant to form a whole mingle on my plate. Like say potatoes, vegetables and meat. Everything is arranged on my plate so that it might touch, but I won't be getting potato along with meat in the same bite. And I hate it when they pour gravy or mayo all over my food. That has its own space where I can dip when I like.

But it's not like I make a big stink over it. I just enjoy my meal less when it happens
