Magdalena Magda The Bulldozer Andersson was officially elected new leader of the Socialdemocrats earlier today at the partys national congress.

The SocDems currently govern which mean that she could become our first female Prime-Minister. Each new PM must be elected by Riksdagen (our Legislative body) however.

Current PM Stefan Lfven is retiring of his own choice. He is 64 years old.

What, he's retiring at 64? But he could live and hold power another three decades!
God I hate my country sometimes. Bunch of septuagenarians and octogenarians trying to wrap their heads around a world wildly diverged from the one they grew up in, holding up pentagenarians as the future of the party.

The fact that most of our politicians retire at a good age is something I very much appreciate.

She is holding her so called installation speech as party leader now and boy, is she already so much better than Lfven at explaining what the SocDems wanna achieve.

What she is saying is both taking the party to the Left and to the Right. Away from Lfvens Centrist project.

But when the financial crisis came it became obvious for everyone that the free, deregulated market isnt the solution - it is the problem. Instead of increased prosperity we got an insane speculation-economy. And where did the banks turn then? To society. To politics.

She then talk about how it (economically) has been the same with the pandemic. How free market advocates the world over demand bailouts funded by taxpayer money. How the deregulated economic system the Right keep pushing for fail whenever there is a crisis and how the owners every time expect to be saved by nation states.

She wants to implement tougher demands for social aid, especially for immigrants. Learn Swedish, be part of worker programs.
