It's just another "huge open field" simulator. The world could have been half the size without losing any of the cool shit.

It actually makes you feel like you're walking across an empty field. With all the mundane nothingless you feel while doing that intact.

I can't talk tho. I played Outward for a while and that's 10x more empty. Plus enemies don't come back right away and you can't fast travel. So there's times you're literally running across fields for 10 minutes.

Still love BotW.

The only gripe I had with the game was the dungeons and lack of any real reward for big items.

Also wouldn't mind if they tweaked crafting a bit. Game had all of these recipes, but overall it was like...why? 10 recipes that did relatively the same thing? I'm sure we can improve on that.

Don't get my post wrong though, love the game. But hoping BotW 2 tweaks the flaws BotW had.

My experience with the game was roughly 80% wandering aimlessly and 20% actually doing cool stuff. Cut the world in half, but keep all the content in terms of puzzles and 'good' shrines, and you'd have a pretty fucking great game. The real problem (apart from the god-awful weapon durability mechanic that never should have existed) was the amount of dead air and filler shrines. Combat shrines with one or two enemies sucked; the longer, 3-4+ room puzzle shrines were too rare. Condense the shrines from having like 100 (or however many) to having maybe 35-40, just combining smaller ones into larger ones with the same puzzle theme...and then maybe we'd be talking.

Though, the fact that the shrines pretty much only ever gave rewards in the form of hearts and stamina segments kind of made them less satisfying. The good ones were the ones that gave specific armor pieces toward good set bonuses, but even most of the set bonuses were lame and/or unnecessary.

It was a game with a lot of cool ideas but not nearly enough density. The reward structure sucked, too. The fact that the korok seeds were only useful for adding one inventory space at a time made them...super unsatisfying.

Technically they do drop meat like bokoblin guts, and also their horns and such used for elixirs.

At least it's pretty. The artstyle for nearly every open world game is ugly or boring. Botw's the only open world game I've beaten (100% too) because it doesn't look like shit

I don't generally like open world games, but I felt like BoTW really utilized its world to enhance the gameplay.

Not really. The climbing stamina mechanic was so safe and 'designed' that it was rare to find any difficult terrain to cross. It usually boiled down to popping Revali's Gale and then floating down to wherever I needed to be.

The occasions with actual puzzles were usually pretty good, but they were rare compared to the filler content.
