I've always had a fascination with the Spirit Temple. It's not my favorite one at all "gameplay-wise," but it is my favorite just in terms of theme and atmosphere if that makes any sense.

Forest temple fucking slayed it. Shadow and Spirit temples are up there, too.

All of them are pretty excellent, but those are the ones that stand out the most to me.

Forest or Shadow temples. All the later temples had an air of creepiness to them, but those two were the most so. I remember being legitimately scared of those two as a kid. The Shadow Temple wins out especially when you think about it. So the Hyrule royalty apparently had people tortured and executed? Hyrule has a rather dark history.

One that I think deserves a special mention is the Water Temple. Love it or hate it, I do think it excels at atmosphere with the music and aesthetic. It gives off such a creepy, mysterious, and lonely vibe.

Forest and Shadow were the best because they were creepy

Forest easily. The music, the weird ass things that happen there, and it having the coolest boss arena in the game. Also the fact that you see it as a child so the place is in the back of your mind from that moment forward sets the anticipation up. I do like Shadow Temple a lot though, especially the implications that the Royal Family were secretly monsters.

We're really choosing the best-best, here. There really is no 'worst' temple in OOT, in terms of atmosphere. Gameplay design is whatever, but OOT really fucking nailed the feeling of adventure, ancient mystery, and the sense of foreboding.

The only dungeon/temple I thought was only "okay" atmospherically was Jabu-Jabu's belly, and that's just because it was an endless series of pink hallways and bodily functions. Which is fine, and all, but it always felt weird that his body was, like...a dungeon. With elevators and shit. With the Deku Tree it made sense, since he's literally made of wood, but Jabu-Jabu always kind of stood out as the least-best. Still cool, just...not as good as the rest.

Forest Temple was genuinely creepy, Shadow Temple is too cartoonishly Halloween-ish

Spirit Temple rocks, too

Glad to see the Forest Temple love here. The music and the overall derelict state of the temple is what make it so haunting to me.
