I tried switching from my 15 mbps dsl to a gigabyte on Cable. The people came and installed it with a modem/router combo supplied by them as part of the deal signing up with them. They were like 'yeah you good to go' then just took off without saying much else. I look at the router after they leave and all the lights are on except the Internet one. So now I have no internet at all. I can connect to the wireless network, but there is just no internet access.

I called technical support and after an hour of unplugging the router and plugging it back in they said they were going to send someone out, but the earliest they could do it is a week from now.

Is there anything I can actually do to try to fix it or am I just without internet for a week? On the bottom of the device, they don't have the IP address listed which is something I have never seen before. Just the MAC address. So I went to find the IP address using cmd typing ipconfig and looking at the Default Gateway. I tried going to that IP address but it won't connect.

I think you'll probably get more reasonable suggestions if you take a picture of your system (the wires coming in and out of your modem/router)

Yeah it was late on Friday, probably their last appointment. They were in a rush to get out of here big time.

Open command prompt and type ipconfig, the gateway IP is the router ip. It's not always 192.168.1.1

Yeah I did that. Posted it in the first post. In this case it was the same though.

Also can you ping 192.168.1.1 from command line?

Yes.

Just looking at the arp cache and I see that the IP address of 192.168.1.1 doesn't match the MAC address listed on my router. Would that cause an issue?

I got them to send someone out today. Guy said the previous guy was incompetent and set everything up wrong. It is working fine now.

When I test the speed it only goes up to 800 mbps max on the download though. Is it normal to not actually be able to hit the full 1 gig?

Unfortunately. Your cable connection is typically shared alongside others in your area. This is especially obvious during peak hours, like when everyone is at home watching Netflix. If you read the terms carefully, you'll notice they always say "UP to x Mbps".
