People forget, he drank from a cup that gives extreme longevity.

You're only immortal if you remain behind the seal, but long life goes to whoever drinks from it. With CGI and stunt doubles, they have an in-story reason why he would be doing things a man thirty years his junior shouldn't be able to do.

I get that all Hollywood does is remake and adapt shit nowadays but honestly, just reboot that shit. I don't see any other way this could work.

I think the reason they don't remake it is because Indiana Jones is tied up in Judea-Christian religion. You can't remake Indiana Jones and say that God isn't real. You can't remake Indiana Jones and say that God is real. You can't remake Indiana Jones and conveniently have him go after a secular object.

The only choice left is to make a sequel.

Besides, the next one is going to be about his daughter.

What? Couldn't you just reboot it and keep the Judeo-Christian themes?

I don't think they would.

Disney turned angels from A Wrinkle in Time into stars and rewrote the Lone Ranger so that the character is an atheist and the bad guy's a religious zealot. It's possible that was left up to the individual writer-director teams, but I get the feeling that Disney on the whole prefers a secular approach to things.

Even if religion isn't a hurdle for them, there's still the issue of a white guy going into the tombs of South Americans and Egyptians and robbing them of their treasures. People don't typically think about these kinds of things, but a movie from 40 years ago is going to have some things that wouldn't set well today.

They asked him to come back. He said he was enjoying his retirement.
