I;m slowly going insane. One of my cats just started chewing on my wires. I've replaced my mouse and keyboard and even DP cable at least 4x now. I've sprayed apple spray, Ive rubbed citrus on it. Nothing works. Even my covers dont work as they just chew on the ends. Today, I went out of my room for 5 minutes and come back to see my cat bit through my mouse cable. I dont know what to do. They're doing it non-stop.

Get some toys to distract them. Cats wreck shit when they're bored. Keep them entertained.

Close of that environment when you are not around.
When you are around, and they start doing that shit, give them hell...within reason.
Generally, once see a certain space as your space...read, theirs as well...they back off

Also how old are they?

I cant bar them from my room. They go ballistic. My cats know how to open doors and I dont have a lock either. But,, regardless they'll wait outside my door pawwing and crying. My room is the sole place they feel safe in.

Just kidding. On a serious note you can buy wire covers that will help.

Well this is an easy fix then. You just need better cable management. Your cats really shouldnt be able to get to your wires at all.

One thing you could do is zip tie all your wires together and then stick them inside some pipe insulation like you get at Lowes.

He did say he has covers over the wires and the cats just bite off the ends that are not protected.

I've had cats my whole life, so hopefully my advice will help.
  1. They're full of energy. Play with them more! Go to amazon and search "cat springs" they're cheap and my cats go nuts for them.
  2. When you do play with them, give them treats when you're done. That will let them know they did well and encourage them to keep their energy use in a way you desire.
  3. Get a spray bottle, like one for hair, and keep it on your desk. Most cats hate water and once you spray them 1-2 times along with saying "SPRAY BOTTLE!" in an angry voice they'll associate the bottle itself with being punished. Eventually you'll be able to keep the bottle somewhere and they'll usually try to avoid it.
  4. Give them more areas that are theirs and theirs alone. A box, a cat tower, a blanket on the corner of your desk, whatever.
  5. Realize that the reason they are attacking your keyboard/mouse is because they see you using it constantly and cats are social creatures who mimic behavior of who they love. They just want your attention TC.

Thanks!

Also TC, cats chill out a lot with age. Enjoy playing with them while they're still interested!

Put some Vicks vapor rub near the area, that cat will smell it and go away. There are other remedies as well. Getting them fat so they can't fit in tiny spaces for example.

  1. I do. I have several toys and paly with both of them. I tried to get them on a schedule but, they refuse to get on a schedule.
  2. My cats do not mind water and spraying doesn't do anything. They could care less.
  3. I do but, they only feel safe in my room away from people. Away from the two other dogs and my brothers cat
  4. I call BS because I'm always giving them attention. I'm always playing and petting them. They're always around me. They sleep in my room at night.
