so no power to the APs in all the rooms, meaning internet is effectively out.

school has no idea what's going on. upper management just says call power company. power company says they're coming but are no where to be found..

i found an APC BackUp1000 UPS and hooked it up. pulling 50 watts with 300 clients so we'll see how long that goes.

it wasn't bought to be a UPS for the switch. i dont even know what it's here for. im like the third IT guy this school has had in the last 2 years so no one knows what they were even bought for. but they were new, unopened.

i charged them last week because i said "hey might as well use these" and then BAM. electrical failures.

its funny because at our other school, theres a big beefy rack mounted UPS hooked up. dunno why they didn't do that here.

sounds like you could improve this setup quite a bit. maybe give them a write up on how to do that and score some points with them...

i hooked it up at 8ish so 930 its dead. D E D dead.

well we figured it out.

the switch's circuit breaker was out. the whole thing. so an electrian and i went around the whole school looking for the one that fed that breaker. turns out, no they aren't in a special locked room, t hey're just in all the classrooms!

and they're open!

SO A FUCKING KID WAS FUCKING WITH IT THE WHOLE TIME

You have everything PoE with no rack UPS? That's something you should probably budget for.
