Today is my 8th day, i started two sundays ago.

I still get a bit of caffiene from the yerba mates i drink but it is around half of what i was getting from coffee.

I have been sleeping much better. However, i noticed i have gained a few lbs(3 to be exact) although people have been telling me i look like i lost weight so i do not know what to think lol my performance keeps increasing. Last week i maxed out at 20 push ups. This week i am repping out 20 push ups a set 2-3 times a day(i weigh a bit under 270lbs). I heard the first 3 days is the worst off of caffeine but i honestly had the biggest crash today a full 7 days later, today i felt completely drained and slept til mid afternoon. I am not sure why. On my 1 hour walk i felt like i was going to pass out too.

Going to make a youtube video about it tomorrow. I have noticed that my temper is very mild now, i do not feel as aggressive or on the edge. Overall i think it was a good move to quit coffee because i was definitely overconsuming it. I had 3-5 cups a day with 1 and 1/2 spoons of instant coffee and 2-3 spoons of sugar. Now i have yerba mate teas 3-5 times a day with about 2 spoonfuls of sugar.

The problem wasnt the coffee, it was the 10 tbsp of sugar a day. Coffee is literally good for you, lol.

Good job TC.

The weight gain would be expected with the extra muscle mass and keeping more water in the system.

They are teaspoons of sugar not table spoons. I do not drink sugary drinks(i only drink water) so this is the only thing i allow myself that is sweet except for fruit. I will only use 2 tea spoons of sugar from now on. You have to understand, one cannot just cut out all sugar from their diet and function optimally, sugar is literally the source of ATP and you can literally go insane without it. I see no point in reducing my sugar intake to absolute zero. One tea spoon has 4 grams of sugar in it. One coke has 40 grams of sugar in it, literally 10 tea spoons, just one. I think i am doing a very good job only consuming around 10 tea spoons of sugar a day thank you very much.

Caffeine is a hell of a drug.
I am not pretending to be a straight edge, but I do believe we would live in a different world without Caffeine being the drug of choice for most.

I think moderate doses increase productivity. The question is around how much should we get?

The sweet spot seems to be from 125mg - 350mg in my opinion. Quick google search shows 100mg - 200mg to be the sweet spot. I know i get anywhere from 60mg - 300mg of caffeine per day with yerba mate right now compared to around 600mg with coffee before.

The problem is, many people don't moderate.
Also, if the civic structure has people so exhausted that they rely on a stimulant to keep up, there might be a problem.

I am not saying to ban it or anything. But it is a drug just like any other.

Caffeine is more of a supplement than a drug imo. I think if you stay within that sweet spot you only receive good benefits, obviously using the lowest dose possible for your frame is ideal. The problem is things like energy drinks existing, which do not only use caffeine as a stimulant but other poorly researched chemicals and set people up to have panic attacks and anxiety.

In a weird sort of way, I'm actually kinda thankful for caffeine withdrawals

knowing how bad it can be, it kinda scares me off from getting into other drugs >_>

used to be a big coffee drinker, 1 or 2 cups a day every day. i never felt the affects of caffeine at all, i just drank coffee because i enjoyed the taste. a few months back i decided to stop drinking coffee. lasted about 3 weeks, then i decided to drink a cup for the first time. it was euphoric. i really felt the caffeine affects. after that, i started drinking coffee again, but only 3 or 4 times a week. i'm trying to use caffeine as a tool when i need it, not just an every day thing.

It amazes me how folks will blindly consume things, there are like 30 ingredients in a monster, 55g of sugar and more than likely the equivelant caffeine of at the very least 2 cups of coffee. Get off that stuff asap bro.

100% agreed. Just like Pojr was saying, I drink coffee because I genuinely enjoy the flavor of it, and never drank it for an energy boost. I have a cup a day just for the warm feeling and yummy flavor, and I only ever drink it in the afternoon.

That said, the culture surrounding it, and caffeine as a whole, is ass. People live shitty lifestyles (sometimes through their own choices, sometimes not) and they jump headfirst into caffeine abuse, through energy drinks and Starbucks drinks. Then 5 years into that, they read some wellness blog post about detoxing, and they act surprised when they feel physical withdrawal from not taking in 1000+mg of caffeine per day lol.

Sorry if I came off as hostile in my first post, OP. I thought you were one of those people, but you're not. (Btw, yerba mate is SLAMMIN.)

I was drinking around 3 cups of coffee and 3-5 cokes per day at the beginning of this year. I stopped drinking soda and just now reduced my coffee intake. Don't sweat it bro, its ok.
