Great bulk, great attack, CURSE (probably the best boosting move at the time), and enough variability that you couldn't really counter it. So Snorlax was basically a pokemon you more or less needed on every team if you wanted a "good" pokemon team. Tauros was similarly OP in Gen 1. <cite>Proto_Spark posted [p:959363080] in Poké... Curse Snorlax kinda just avoided this problem lol, and if Snorlax couldn't overpower you then with Curse and Rest then it wasn't dying to anything either.
