Good in some areas, but definitely needs work in others. I can see why they went with a strategy of rolling it out to people who had the highest safety scores first. Just gotta keep testing it and reporting errors the car makes so that they can make it better in future updates. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't stressful AF at times, though, LOL.

10.3 Pros:
  • Car handles switching between FSD beta for surface streets and navigate on autopilot for highway driving well.
  • Car does well with waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before turning left on unprotected turns.
  • Being able to see the indicators the car is using to make decisions on the FSD beta display is interesting.

10.3 Cons:
  • Car is sometimes a bit jerky when turning left from the leftmost lane when there is a curb separating your side of the road from the other. It navigates it somewhat OK, but it's definitely not a smooth turn like a human would do.
  • The car turns the wheel faster than a human does when navigating some 90 degree turns, which makes it both jerky and stressful.
  • When turning out of my neighborhood, there are two lanes and a shoulder. The car turns onto the shoulder instead of what is technically the right lane.
  • FSD beta's braking is often much more sudden than I would like. When I'm driving, I typically just use one pedal driving and let off of the accelerator to allow the car to gradually bring itself to a stop. FSD beta puts on the brakes to bring itself to a slow creep and then creeps up to the stop sign and stops, which isn't comfortable.

As it stands, this isn't a feature I'm going to be using when there is a lot of traffic around me on surface streets. The car does great with navigate on autopilot on highways, but FSD beta definitely needs work. It'll get better as more and more updates come out, though.

I'd be too terrified to let a car drive itself

It definitely takes a while to get used to it. It's excellent on highways, but you still need to get used to how and when the car makes its decisions so that you understand when you'll likely need to take over and when you won't.

Right now, it's best to just use the feature on the highway and only use the FSD beta on relatively normal surface streets when you aren't in heavy traffic. I use navigate on autopilot on highways more than I drive manually at this point, but I'll definitely be doing most of the driving on surface streets until the FSD beta gets better.

People die from this self-driving bullshit. I'm glad my car doesn't have it.

With the normal navigate on autopilot, there are actually less accidents than without it. The FSD beta hasn't been rolled out to very many cars, relatively.
