yet at the same time everyone acknowledges that politicians lie all the time and that governments can be corrupt and have their own interests as a priority. I mean, remember there was a time when the president said there were Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq to justify invading them. And look at things relating to diets and the food industry. Studies they have pushed for what is good or bad foods only for them to be turned around later. Or studies have been shown to have a bias as they were funded by certain groups in the food industries to promote the food they sell.

At the start of the pandemic when the Government and their experts were saying we didnt need masks, i questioned it that it didnt sound right to me? Seeing that this is a highly contagious disease, why wouldnt you use masks, even if its a home made one as some form of barrier is better than none.

Even the video they pushed about mask use explicitly said: "If you dont have symptoms, there is no need to wear masks as there is no evidence that it protects you, BUT if you are looking after someone with COVID, then you should wear a mask".

Like how does any of that make sense "it doesnt protect you, but wear one if dealing with covid"

When I pointed this out I was mocked and jeered for it and even warned multiple times on this very site. People came up with all mental gymnastics to justify no masks saying:
-everyone was wearing them wrong anyways and they will be touching their face all the time
-only n95 masks work
-they needed to lie to us to save them for healthcare workers
-it doesnt protect you, only stops you spreading it

Yet here we are 2 years later and masks are widely used. So why shouldnt we be questioning things when governments and experts have lied to us plenty of times in the past? What makes this any different?

The only valid question is, why havent you gotten your vaccination yet?

Because it's a virus that's affected things on a global scale triggering a global response from governments the world over working to get it under control and usually anyone that questions the shit is just doing so to justify not getting vaccinated or not having to wear a mask, speaking totally out of their depth on the matter, and unfortunately this is such a common occurrence that is not worth the expenditure of energy to hear out yet another dubiously intentioned, dubiously informed opinin.

Because you are a conspiracy nut if you conflate politicians with the CDC and medical system*. Mostly in an emergency situation where there is LITERALLY nothing to gain politically from making said virus and falsifying information pertaining to it.
