It was okay. It wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. Loved the book. Thought the Lynch one was more interesting tbh.

Reminded me of Blade Runner 2049. Aesthetics were nice, but the movie was bland. Original Blade Runner (Final Cut) is my favorite movie of all time.

I thought it was kinda boring

There was some decent stuff in there but overall it felt flat

it wasn't convincing me to read books either

Right? I love 2048 and Wallace is awesome. Its just cool to see Scott using any contemporary stars like this (I love Covenant too) but it aint the original. Not by a long shot

Book was much better.

Its really cool! Like, in an Altered Carbon kinda way. Yknow? Its like what I wanted Fifth Element to be. But I found that was also a little boring

the coolest thing the movie did was the ending in the water, and when we enter Deckers world

A+ but shes not a classic

Altered Carbon is a good comparison. I felt the same about that.

But I loved Fifth Element.

its not quite a coherent world.

same with TFA seemed like they had a hard enough time getting Harrison to stand still for the camera and the chemistry just fell to pieces on opening night

The cinematography was so far up its own ass I could barely even tell what was going on most of the time. Almost every shot is an extreme close up. The whole movie was way too artsy-fartsy and just felt really forgettable tbh. Very boring too.

Outside of the off-the-hook set design, I think the original movie is meh. Kind overrated.
Meanwhile, I loved, loved, LOVED 2049. Better story, more interesting characters, better direction, amazing soundtrack. Probably my favorite Villeneuve film. He (and everyone who worked on that movie) absolutely killed it.

Im just not getting that sense.

looks like the usual suspects filling in the blanks around here ; Monterey Jack where I want Cheddar - but hey! if it doesnt absolutely suck like Venom 2 does, Im willing to buckle up for a nice sequel. The original Dune adaptions dont really get good until later anyway. Leaving Atredis & meeting the Fremen is a little boring if not downright awkward & weird in the book too. It just feels like idk someone trying to shipp Christianity using Flash Gordon. Lol

Same. The original suffers the same problems virtually everything from that era does: extreme campiness and almost everyone on-screen just being a weird fuck from Mars who's impossible to identify with on any level

Acting has come a long, LOOOOONG fucking way, though movie people still aren't quite real people.

Honestly looks like its trying to portray Paul as if he were a more like a Fremen to begin with, and fit in naturally.

doesnt that defeat the purpose?

Just went in a date to watch it she fell asleep a hour in.

The audio was muffled and soundtrack was so loud you couldn't make out half the dialogue. Great cgi, cinematography and acting but it's just not enjoyable to watch.

Every scene has you asking more questions cause it introduces something new and its constant from Starr to finish.

Re watched both Blade Runners this year. And 2049 characters just feel forced. And it ruined Decker. Depending on what your take on the first movie was. I get the notes the movie was playing. Just didn't feel very Philip K. Dick to me. There's no bending of the audiences mind. It's has emotions. But with a child like purpose. Almost on a insulting level.

In the first movie you feel twisted about Decker. He almost comes off as a bad guy at times. The droids carry about them this innocent fear of death. Perhaps anguish. By the time you reach the final scene you feel like you just finished a symphony. That tried to detail the tones that which delves around the mysterious fear of death. And the symphonic notes which will be lost along with it. Decker was a perfect character for the audience to relate to through the whole film. Whether you were disturbed by him hardly mattered.

In spite of what I said about the second movie. I do think it was okay.

Amazing movie but its reputation needs to be downplayed. Weve kinda seen all of that stuff before a thousand times. Especially the junkyard. The city is perfect looking, so why isnt it impressive?

I thought Alien: Covenant & 2049 went together beautifully. Some of the best casting Ive ever seen. But, yknow? Here we are.

Shit. Im glad to have 3 new entries into the OG Scott Alien universe. I think the climate is right for a new one. We didnt think Prometheus 2 would ever happen. It eventually did. Same with Avatar 2. I know Ridley has one more story to tell.......

Blade Runner? Needs a prequel. Without Decker. Go back to iRobot. Do a round two with Omega Man. One stone.

We needed like what FF7 did with it. Look how well Halloween is doing. Ads everywhere. Wow

What do you really need from
2049? Wallace? Joy? The superior officer? The huntress? All of 3 characters? Bautista doesnt last long.
