obviously we can't expect everyone to actually be educated about everything, so your scientific ignorance gets a pass for once.

What you were told can only possibly be true of people who are infected, i.e. unvaccinated individual contracts the virus, or a vaccinated individual has a breakthrough infection.

And because it is less likely for a vaccinated individual to have a breakthrough infection than an unvaccinated individual to become infected (given the same extent of exposure), we can definitely say the vaccine reduces transmission.

Thanks for listening!

There's also considerable data suggesting that transmission risk is reduced the the contagious period is shorter for vaccinated people, but it's hard to quantify and it's easier, safer, and mostly inconsequential to just have a single policy for all infected people instead of trying to enforce something more nuanced. Presumably, the call centre employee to whom Zeb was talking was given a script that went with the simplified "there's no difference in transmission risk please stop calling us to ask if your girlfriend can leave isolation three days earlier" instead of asking a layperson to explain that nuance to other laypersons and introducing the risk of misinforming people.

In my 25 years of employment, I've never needed proof of any vaccine, why would we start that now?

Being controlled much?

Me either. And at my age, theyve most likely worn off.

Ok...

I live in Canada, no where near the US border

There is a parade of about 20 guys outside the Boston Pizza protesting Fauci and the Vaccine

Fauci... Canada... Fauci? CANDADA!!!

We had a bunch of people get uppity about extending provincial border restrictions by an extra couple weeks who outright blockaded the highway for a couple days. The basic issue they were objecting to was mildly sympathetic (they live in the county that's right on the NS/NB border, so closing it has been more disruptive for them than for most, and the closure was extended just a couple days before it was scheduled to reopen), but as more information about it came out, that sympathy pretty quickly disappeared because it became increasingly apparently that they were just a bunch of anti-vaxx nutjobs that were trying to convince the government to pretend Covid didn't exist. The icing on that cake? Most of them were wearing MAGA hats. In Nova Scotia, 3 hours from the nearest border crossing.
