Fucking possum out in the damn road. Reacted and spun my car out into the sticks. Was going 50 MPH. Worse yet my other car has no functioning battery. Looks like I am going to have to take the battery out of the my other car and use it.

TC if you're on the highway and its not a moose then you're better off hitting it. its sad, but swerving to dodge a small critter running across the interstate or a state road or something is dangerous as fuck.

It sucks but in general you'll be safer taking the hit than swerving for future reference. You never know what's behind or how your car can hit some ledge.

You're right. It was just an assumption. 50MPH is definitely too fast to easily avoid a small animal, depending on the road is all.

I think it was reaction. I hit my brakes but I probably jerked the wheel. It was a two lane road, I couldn't swerve anyway.

I always see them well in advance, but I must've seen it from the top of a blind hill. I've traveled this round many times before.

ngl, if i see a small animal in the street and it's not easy for me to avoid them, well...bad luck for them.

Not saying I go out of my way to make meat pancakes, but if I had a choice between potentially damaging my car and turning them into a speed bump, it's an easy decision to make.

I somehow caught him later than normal. I think he was out of my line of sight.

Possums give zero fucks on the road. I once drove my car up to it and slowed down to near zero and he just minded his own fucking business. Even deer have a bit more tact.

Never stop or swerve for an animal that won't cause major damage to your car or you. So basically a large deer(especially a buck. Those horns can impale you) bear, cow or moose

Maaaaaaybe a dog if you are 500% certain NO one is behind you and only stopping no swerving unless you have a LOT of empty space with no homes or people anywhere nearby.

I hit a dumb af raccoon. Walked out, tuned back, turned out again. Didn't run over it thankfully but it audibly got bonked in the head. Saw it in my mirror walking away.

Yeah...I had to flatten some poor, stupid raccoon at 3 am because he ran in front of me in the dark. I made the choice to hold my course and hope he didn't get hit.

I only had the chance to see the rings on his dumbass tail for like half a second before *k'thunk-k'thunk*

I felt terrible, but he ran out in front if me. Nothing I could have safely done to change it.

You really did what people do in horror movies before crashing. I'm a vegan, and I would brake for an animal, but I would NEVER swerve off the road, unless maybe it was a deer with giant antlers that would impale me. You're lucky to be alive.

Rear left headlight shattered
Rear right headlight broken
1 flat tire
Passenger side mirror ripped off
Driver mirror suffered minor damage.
Trunk works. Hood works. Gas Tank no idea.
Car can turn on.

I was completely sober while driving. Not now though.

I have not completed the process yet. I gave them my credentials, but I needed to ask the police on scene to call for a (more expensive) tow truck. I needed to GTFO of there.
