I'm pretty sure I put it where it should be, but the morning person couldn't find it apparently. So if it's not at my place then it's fucking gone because I couldn't find it at work today. Anyway in the handbook this is one of the few firable offenses. So of course I do it. Jfc I hate this shit.

screwed :(. my uncle lost a key had to apologize to the police apartment. they gave him another set.
it doesn't happen often.

Maybe. I did leave the cart outside of the unit at one point, so someone could have stolen it, but it was at the bottom of a container and the mall was also closed by that point. So it's possible someone took it, but that still means I lost it. But I vaguely recall putting it in the right spot at the end of the shift. I can't be sure though.

What if it was a big heist that was beyond your control? Someone rappelled down from the ceiling and nabbed it with you, completely unaware. Tomorrow you will wake up to learn your entire workplace has been compromised, and you were the last one with the key. You might want to hire a lawyer, it's not looking good. Or you were in on it all along, and this topic is just a ploy to divert observing eyes from the truth.

Also the whole "I should quit" is because I'm not really attuned to details for work like this, and the details are pretty vital. It's not easy for me to do this job well.

I would have thought, if these keys are that important, they'd have some sort of process for logging them in and out, so there is a record of who has them and when.

Sounds more like the fault should be with your employer's shitty procedures.

Firing you would be stupid. You may or may not have made a mistake, but you definitely won't let that happen again. No employee is perfect from the start.

It's gonna be fine, I think... Morning guy (he has a lot of seniority iirc) texted me and I apologized to him since I think he reported it to the boss for me, and the key can be replaced...

I got very lucky this time. I also forgot to clock out at one point so that was a second mistake I made in one week.

I imagine I have one chance left.

depends on the leniency. back when my uncle worked for trendwest there was a 3 strike limit.
though could get a strike for the dumbest things.

I want them to think positively of me. I care a lot about what others think so when I fuck up and know I did it eats at me for a while. I also don't want to get too comfortable and start making mistakes. <_<
