What, like the PS2 games? GTAIII missions are really rough.

I literally cannot beat those three without cheats. But I still contend that San Andreas is a top 20 game of all time.

I appreciate that the missions are more open-ended, Ive been playing V recently and it really forces you to do things a specific way most of the time, always gives you whatever gun youre gonna need, etc

Played them for the first time recently and for the most part they're pretty fun and not too cheap (with a handful that do pull your hair out).

Biggest QoL adjustments that could be made is letting you restart missions as soon as you fail with maybe an ability to rebuy your stuff. Losing everything and having to trek back to the mission start is kind of a pain.

They're not that much different to what you're seeing in 5. End of the day there's only so much you can do.

Vice City Stories had an option to where you could optionally pay a larger bribe to get your confiscated weapons back. Implement that into the trilogy, and perhaps a checkpoint/retry system, and you have an improved experience with little effort.

Wasn't too difficult if you followed the train properly.

Though I can understand why following it to the end and failing was frustrating because of the distance required to retry the mission.

The problem is that Big Smoke has a voice line telling you to get close to the train, when getting too close means Smoke's bullets hit the train and not the Vagos.

I remember the missions being terrible and I basically would give up on the story as soon as I unlocked the full map.

so they probably will hold up fine
