most ppl came back because they were under the impression more than one person could win?

after the first game or maybe before it, the manager says "those who win 6 games will win the grand prize" suggesting that it is split among those who complete the six games. especially b/c the first two games were kind of like individual sports

if it was clear there would only be one winner then i'd dip ngl

I believe so. I definitely thought there could be more than one winner at first. It wasn't until Jun Ho was looking through the list of previous winners and there was only 1 name for each contest. That's when I was like damn...

Yeah, it got less fair as it went. The bridge game was bs and based entirely on chance and then the final game basically amounted to a fight to the death.

Did it ever say there couldn't be multiple winners? The final game was a team game wasn't it? It just so happened to end up as a 1 v 1.

That was my assumption as well. It did seem that way.

Which is a great parallel to irl being told that everyone who works hard will be rewarded lol.

I think they gave them knives because they wanted it whittled down to just 2 players.

Most people came back because life was utterly shit for them on the outside. They all knew what the stakes were after the first game and figured they would rather die trying to become rich rather than die on the street with crippling debt.

guys, you dont need spoiler tags. *spoiler* is in the fucking title. You can yell stuff like Gi-han wins! Or Sang-woo kills Ali and no one should be spoiled unless they literally don't care >_>

Thinking about Player 1's vote after the revelation that he's the mastermind was pretty cool. I kinda want to rewatch it again just to see all the hints

I don't know how those people thought there would be multiple winners after that initial death match. Makes no sense.

because they weren't pit against each other? and even in the second game the players were not pit against each other. There was no "guarantee" of a loser

They didn't say it, but they implied it to the viewer when Jun Ho (the police officer) was investigating the files. When he was looking at the list of winners from previous years, there was always only one name listed.

And then with the bridge game, that was clearly designed to kill off as many players as possible. One of the players stood there and calculated the odds of successfully guessing all the way to the end and it was like 1 in 32,000. They definitely wanted a small amount of players by the end.

Another great point. The game creators could simply just say "well we technically didn't say it either."

I think it would technically be possible anyway. There was nothing preventing more than 3 people surviving the bridge. Tug of war and marbles were each meant to cut the field in half (although the numbers before and after marbles didn't make sense, which probably means that a few pairs didn't finish on time and were both killed). Guard interference and those night fights narrowed down numbers. How much wqs planned for, I don't know... and from the scene as kids, the squid game doesn't have to only have 2 players.

Apparently not. I'm not millions in debt nor have I been murdered in a suicide game.

It really bugged me anytime someone was like hey, well get through this together
also you think there was a fail safe to stop 15 out of 16 dying on the bridge game?
