Welcome back to another installment of JAKAS plays!

CE has been with me through my playthrough of Demons Souls to start the year. They cheered me on as I decided to move forward with my plans to defeat all the rest. You joined me on my destruction of Dark Souls despite it being on the Switch. You ensured I played all the DLC for Dark Souls 2 and having a wonderful experience. You badgered me into (correctly) getting the complete experience of Bloodborne by ensuring I did it all.

And now, before the end of 2021, I will complete Dark Souls 3: Fires Fade Edition.

Oddly this is the one I had the most experience with before I did all this, as I did defeat I think 3 bosses? I had 5 trophies before I had put it away many years ago.

The Age of the Fire will truly end.

Went with Knight build and the Life Ring. Been a Knight all the way through, can't stop me now! Also, Life Ring seems fine to start with.

To this day, I'm not really sure how to properly fight Gundyr's second phase. It's just so hard to actually see what he's doing.

If poise from DS was in here strength classes would legit be unstoppable.

As it is you can go ham with swinging greatswords against bosses and trade hits for wins, since you can heal.

I've always wanted to do a pyro build.

So if I recall, we are basically failed attempts at producing a Lord of Cinder right? Basically a failed attempt to be what we were in the first game? And now we are going out to hunt the Lord's of Cinder who all basically are akin to who we were in the first game to potentially maybe link the flame as a last ditch solution to protect the Age of Flame?

I always thought we were more just exist to be woken up and force the lords of cinders to do their job.

yea, pretty much.

you're a champion of ash, meaning that you were burnt to a crisp trying to kindle the Flame, but you were woken up by Fire Link Shrine so that you can bring back the previous lords in hopes a successor will be able to link the Flame.

The Unkindled were those who weren't powerful enough to link the fire in the past, and were burnt to ash as a result. They're the ones that get called in as a desperation move when the Lords of Cinder won't or can't do their job and link the fire.

So, I beleive the game only offers hints at your character, an Unkindled, being someone who attempted to light the first flame & became ash. Nothing outright states the fact. You would need to either put this together yourself, or find that out from another player, or you would have had to learn it from the multimedia & interviews surrounding the game. Is that correct?

I think Miyazaki was just trying to help spur players on a little bit in terms of figuring out what the Unkindled are. They dont Hollow. Their Ash seems to be related to a mana bar (similar to Demons Souls moreso than Dark Souls) that is used for Estus, Sorcery, Miracles, Pyromancy, and even Melee. Everything. So theres a lot of stuff to think about there. Andre is also back, which could mean that the fire didnt get linked in his world? Was it only half-linked? Shouldnt he have died a human? Or did he survive because hes (not) related to the Gods?

Its okay to say you dont know exactly whats happening and raise points to help everyone figure it out, you know.

If I like the basic feel of the Longsword, what weapon should I be looking to get later? I'm gonna give some stuff to the Longsword until I can find maybe something named but I'm not familiar with DS3 weapons.

I currently have a Raw Longsword +2

What build are you going for?

It's really hard to go wrong with the Lothric Knight Sword, though it works a bit better for a Dex build than a Strength build. Dark Sword is also good, and has slightly longer reach than the LKS

If you want something a little heavier, the Claymore is also a good choice with a versatile moveset.

I'm typically a Strength/Vitality/Vigor type build. Not full turtle or anything like that, sword and board though for sure.

you should do it.

iirc, there are no real penalities for joining different covenants, and you get achievements/trophies for it.

The Mound Makers are the purple guys that invade occasionally. They're a wild card, because their objective isn't necessarily to kill the host, they just need to kill someone. They can kill the host, or they can kill phantom the host has summoned, or they can work with the host and kill other phantoms that invade them

Yeah, there are no penalties at all to switching covenants in and out in DS3.

Made the 20k to get the Tower Key. That fucking jump to get some item is really hard but I got the Estus Ring at least.

I rocked that for a while until I got the Carthus Curved Sword. CCS was so nasty they had to nerf it.

If people have questions for me I do answer them. I feel a lot of times people are just making comments in general that, given my entire lack of playing the game, I don't have a lot to say on?

For example the Covenant stuff, I've never once invaded another player throughout all my Demon's Souls and Dark Souls plays. Not really interested in that stuff so being part of a Covenant (which I believe is usually tied to PVP) isn't a huge concern of mine?

Dancer and the two princes were two of the hardest for me

Obviously Nameless King is a bitch and a half

I was disappointed that Nameless could be made significantly easier by stacking lightning resistance

Anything in this game harder than Orphan of KOS or whatever? That was probably the toughest thing I've done in a SoulsBorne.

It kinda is spending on game.

Like in blood borne for example, if you're not in one then you're missing out on runes, but still you have to deal with certain invasions and summoning

Also from a lore and side character thing they're important outside of pvp+getting a boss summon in all from software games.

basically, *spoilers* he can level you up a maximum of five times (I think you have to die five times for each level).

anyway, there are no drawbacks (unless if you mind your character looking like a corpse), and after you've been leveled up five times by him, it opens up the path for a new ending.

Made it to the Road of Sacrifices and had a lovely chat with Anri and Horace. Seems they too want to find the Lords of Cinder.
