._.

Attempting to do any type of schoolwork just leads to panic attacks. I feel dumb for not being able to just finish a homework assignment. Just one and I still cant. I feel frozen and it gets hard to breathe and the next thing I know Im on the ground hyperventilating and losing my shit. Were nearing week five and I still havent finished week one. Im gonna fail because I cant fuckin do anything apparently

Failing = losing my scholarships + federal funding for six months. Maybe I need the break. Its just immensely frustrating that Im only two quarters away from finishing my associates. Turning a 2-year degree into a 4 year nightmare

im tired of life being hard, ce. I wish that my anxiety didnt hinder me so much. i wish I had parents to depend on like everyone else my age. wah wah wah welcome to the pity party. its like this for most everyone so I just gotta deal with it. im just tired of struggling

you should ignore this topic I needed it to vent

A break is not a bad idea if you need it, if it means not dropping out

Sounds like there's too much on your plate. Try to mentally get into a zone where you only care about what you're doing, what's in front of you. Even if it means the fear of "failing" the other stuff, what's important is learning to focus on the task at hand. This will help quell the acute anxiety attacks.

i also recommend making a calendar (ideally at the start of the year), in google calendar or outlook, and fill it will ALL your due dates. I do this and it's a lifesaver for me. Never behind on things, always on top of them.

what are you taking in school?

I know how you feel on some level. I've felt this at work and had to deal with a terrible boss that didn't care about me and made me question my ability to do the job. Thing is, If you overthink it and keep thinking of you failing, then it will only make the anxiety worse and make you do worse. But You are a lot more capable than you think and you have to realize that it's all mental l, and can be own worst enemy. You have to believe in yourself. It's going to be all okay. You've gone this far. Keep pushing it with school. Make a schedule on when to study everyday/every week and follow through it. Don't wait until the last minute. Making a routine and doing homework and studying an hour or two will take you feel a lot better.

Have you gone to a doctor for this? Since you are having panic attacks, you should see a psychiatrist and get treated with prescribed medicine.

When you feel overwhelmed, just take one step at a time. Don't feel like you have to do everything at once. We're not mentally designed to multi-task.

Yes, itd be a break. A forced one, but a break nonetheless lol. Im finishing school even if it takes me a decade

Thats all good advice, thank you. Youre right, I think about it all at once and the mountain of work I need to do and I cant handle the pressure. Ill focus on my math class, since that is really the only class I genuinely care about.
The google calendar is a good idea too. I hadnt thought about putting literally everything on the calendar. Thatd actually help a lot too since organization helps me relax

Oof, I couldnt imagine feeling like that about work. At least I can temporarily drop outta school if I need to, but you really dont have a choice with a job.. how did you end up managing it?

Thank you, Ill create a schedule for my math class at the very least. Even doing a little bit like you said makes me feel a lot better, and boosting morale makes it even more likely that I will continue

Yes. Ive been in therapy for about 6 years now. Pretty much all of my life altering mental issues have been solved except for this one. I have a new therapist Im meeting tomorrow so I will emphasize that school is what I want to focus on

Are you seeing a therapist? If not....you should, if possible. Your school might offer some help there.
In any case, take all the time you need, don't let society's (often unrealistic) expectations get you down, and try to be gentle with yourself (easier said than done, I know).

See if your school offers any kind of counselling

Depending on what classes you're taking, you can probably get help from CE if nowhere else. E.g. If it's anything related to maths or chemistry you can ask me :)

I burned myself out of college trying to do too much (full-time classes, full-time work). I was always straight As from elementary on through but I stopped seeing any sort of advantage after a while and just gave up.

Hell yeah.

I'm kinda in the same boat. My fear of not getting a job makes it super hard for me to even think about putting out resumes. I feel inadequate, get anxious, and shut the laptop off and take a nap.
It was a nightmare just finishing this last resume I wrote up.

Well I no longer work. I basically left the company . Normally I'd line up for a job before I did that, but didn't have much of a choice. They tried to fire me illegally. I told them my perfomance could be suffering because I have a mental disorder I didn't get diagnosed. So they tried to get me to do it, which I did. I got diagnosed and I got treatment for it via prescribed medicine. Next thing I know they try to fire me based on what my doc check marked on the Ada form, which didn't say I couldn't do my job. But for some reason they didn't know I was getting treated (I told HR), because my doc didn't write it there, nor did HR tell the consultant apparently. I could have sued. They made a decision without even asking me. But even then, you can't fire someone for a potential disability. You are supposed to give them a chance. I 3as so shocked at that time, I just agreed to it. I had to think it over, but I knew no way I was going to go back either way. Fuck them.

But I don't have to deal with my awful manager at least.

uff yeah all 3 of your classes you mentioned are something you gotta work in everyday, especially math. If you have just 3 classes and nothing else like a full time job, I think you got this. I would just make a habit to study and do hwk before and after school everyday.

I don't know how bad your anxiety is though, but you are more capable than you think. Like you, I think of the worst possible situation sometimes and it puts me in depression, but I get out of it by

Whats your major btw?

Not everyone is able to handle university or college classes. They're not designed to get anyone through like primary school. They're designed to extract money and if they toss out a lot of people who failed along the way, that's not even an issue for them.

Have you applied for accommodations? Every school/college/university has those for students with medical needs. You can easily get a doctor/psychiatrist/therapist note and receive the appropriate help.
