If you think it's easy isn't it possible you just "got gud" as they say? An opposite condition to the one where stupid people think they are smart is one where people who have gotten really good at something can underestimate their own skills and not realize it's them being awesome and not the game being easy.

I suck at video games so no lol. But I can beat Dark Souls without to much issue, meanwhile I can barely make it past the second level of Holy Diver without savestates.

Tbc I wouldnt say Dark Souls is easy, but it's very doable.

No I saying most probably give up because they have no clue what they're doing, and just assume it's too hard based on its reputation when really just a bit of effort to figure the game out is all you need.

Maybe part of it is what one defines as hard. Generally when I think of hard video game series I think of stuff like R Type, Contra, Battletoads, and DoDonPachi.

NPC summons are perfectly within the parameters of beating any boss the "legit" way. If your talking about player summons then yeah you didnt beat the boss

on my first and second run-throughs, i always go no summon. Then I'll use the NPC summons later because I wanna help out my boy Solaire :')

Contra isn't that hard, you just need to practice...and there we go. It's the same thing. It's not so hard to me anymore because I played it a lot, a lot. I can get to base 2 with zero deaths.

But does it mean it's easy or I'm good at Contra? It's the second one

Same can "technically" be said about Ninja Gaiden, although a fair amount of luck was involved with that game on top of skill and muscle memory

I would say it's more of a memorization game. Even if you are extremely smart, you would need very good reflexes to respond to many traps and enemies the first time they do something you haven't seen before. But since the entire game is patterns that don't change, once you memorize how to clear a trap or deal with an enemy, you can just do the same thing every time. This makes the game rewarding because everyone can "git gud". Whereas a very fast action game that requires precise inputs, like say Sekiro, can leave people feeling bad, because no amount of memorization will offset the reflex requirements. And reflexes are certainly not intelligence.

I never bother to memorize shit in these games, same with MH.

Just get used to it enough that I can kill things quickly.

Anyway, its pretty hard compared to most games at least.

I didnt mean just the first Contra theres more than one of them you know. Contra III is bloody insane. The first Contra isnt that hard unless you loop it since it gets harder each time (I dont think most people even know that's a thing though) which is part of why I prefer the Japanese release since it starts on the second difficulty loop along side the graphical improvements.

Also Dark Souls alleviates most of its difficulty by the sheer fact that you can grind to get stronger. It's not as abusable as most RPGs but it's definitely a thing that will make it much easier.

I'm gonna be honest I think the first Ninja Gaiden is overhyped in terms of difficulty at least untill you get towards the last couple of levels. This is in large part because it was merciful enough to have unlimited continues, but yeah I find most of the difficulty comes from those last couple of levels, which I dont think I ever beat the last one. It's tough but not frustrating to get their though imo. To reuse an example I think it's much more doable than Holy Diver where I can barely make it past the second level.

Equipment is also a big factor in the Souls games (outside Bloodborne where it doesn't really do anything, but every level up increases defense which is pretty busted actually).

Its extremely difficult for console kiddies who need aim assist (aim bots) to play cod, but not difficult to someone whos played something like Kingdom Hearts

theres not a single console kiddie alive that can beat kh2 on proud or critical mode including all the data battles. both of those modes are far more difficult than anything in dark souls
