He's largely responsible for 5 out of the 12 people in IT quitting the company. I once went to him and asked him to hire someone to help me because I was constantly working 60 to 80 hour weeks. On top of that, if something critical on the network broke and I was unavailable for whatever reason, nobody would know what to do to fix it or even how to log into the network gear to even start to figure out what was wrong. His response: "Your job is like a McDonald's cashier. If you're unavailable, we'll just call someone else in." He ended up leaving the company because he was butthurt about not getting the CIO job.

On his last day, he tried to offer me a job in Charleston, SC where he was going. I told him no. There was no way I would choose to work for him ever again.

A couple months later, he texted someone in IT so he could get in contact with me. He wanted me to talk to his bosses at that company to validate a network design he wanted to implement. No idea why they'd want to talk to me since they have no idea who I am. He also tried to offer me a job again. I said no.

And then just today, he contacted me again to try to offer me a job. Nope.

If my job is really just like a McDonald's cashier, he needs to just call someone else in like he said he could.

What a super fucked up comment to make. OK yeah sure, just call someone else in cause I'm sure they know the passwords to get into the equipment.

fuck that guy, I'm not in IT, but it seems IT management is particularly bad. At my old job for a sizeable public transit company some of the managers would just yell at low level employees in front of everyone, it was pretty shameful.
