Had a situation where I talked with someone online. We had a good convo on the online dating website, and via text. When it came to meeting, we both confirmed on the day of. And I confirmed 10 min before leaving. She sent a confirmation text, letting me know that she was on her way.

When I arrived, didn't hear anything. Sent a few more texts asking what her ETA was, etc but no answer. After 15 min of waiting, I decided to leave. And she of course, didn't say anything or reply.

What could I have done to have avoided being stood up in this situation?

it's gonna happen. just have to try again with someone else and hope they show up. if this first girl tries to message you and makes up some crap about why she couldn't and tries to make a new date you just gotta ignore her. it's all a load of crap.

just one of those things where it threw me off completely

Normally if someone doesn't intend of meeting , they usually don't text me back when I confirm on the day of and ask if we are still good to meet.

instead, we both confirm. She tells me she's on her way and gives me an ETA. I arrive, she ghosts me completely and doesn't show up

i'm just being salty atm, but still sucks lol

Ghosting / standing people up is absurdly common in dating culture these days.

You need to take it in stride and not so personally, it's the only answer. Ghosting is purposefully designed to avoid any explanation or assigned blame.

I did or tried to. I even offered to talk on the phone and she said she wasn't comfortable with that. So we kept talking a lot over text. Anything in particular I could have said, done or avoided saying to prevent myself from getting stood up?

Dont be so hard on yourself. She could be an introvert or super uncomfortable meeting people and just had cold feet last minute. Maybe she even feels like shot about it. Sucks for you but the point is, theres not much you can do about it

So in the future, you would suggest I try to push to talking on the phone? And next/cut off anyone who refuses to?

Honestly? Nothing. If someone decides to ghost you they're gonna ghost.

The best thing to do is just understand that ghosting happens, and not let it bother you.

women have tons of dudes reaching out to em, and plenty of options. no way shes gonna be into someone she hasn't even met yet unless she's desperate.

it was probably just destiny. why meet up with some average bloke when she can see someone better looking

You can try to remind her that you were the next successor to her throne
