Establishment Dems don't generally want to downsize the military and Republicans certainly don't. It's a fight the progressive arm of the Democrats is fighting by itself.

If you dont think there are any Democrats that also profit directly or indirectly from the military industrial complex then I dont know what to tell ya.

Even a relatively progressive Senator like Chris Murphy (CT) always brags about getting more money for the sub base in Groton.

It's rooted in corruption and parochialism. We hardly do anything in regards to infrastructure, so those sweet, sweet military-industrial complex dollars are just about the only pork you can bring home. And that's me being nice.

my mother was a military contractor for a long while and the pork you see on these bases and in those contractor contracts is fuckin comical.
