I really like the open-endedness of how you can drive the story, but because of that, it really loses a lot of luster in the second half because it can't focus on certain characters.

Nominate Psychonauts

Pyre's such a tough one for me. I understand it's meant to be super melancholy and I applaud Supergiant for succeeding in that goal, but I think the bleakness just goes a tiny bit too far to the degree that a couple of big plot points seem like contrivances created for the specific purpose of injecting more bleakness. I just felt bummed out for the overwhelming majority of my playtime to the point that I was never really satisfied by much of anything that happened.

I'm gonna settle at 7/10. Kinda tempted to go lower but I don't think that would be entirely fair.

Just checked and saw that Pyre is on sale for $5.99 on PSN.

I need to try Bastion to see if I like these types of games.

EDIT: And Transistor is $4.99. Yeah, I gotta try out Bastion ASAP once I'm done with Dead Space.

It's not the deepest story, but it is so incredibly novel in how it gets told -- and it adjusts for everything -- while letting you trade off between having moments with characters you come to love and reaching your goal.
