The dude basically put his head in the sand and blamed everyone else but Voldemort for the shit Voldemort was doing.

Had he even given Dumbeldore a tiny bit of credit in even humoring the idea that Voldemort was back, they could have stopped him from having as much power as he did. He was inept and indirectly aided Voldemort in his return.

As a kid reading the 4th book and even as a teen reading the 5th book I thought it was ridiculous how fudge didn't believe harry and was being so difficult with dumbledore during voldy's return.

Now as an adult if I ever re-read the series I'd totally get Fudge and find his behaviour completely believable, having seen first hand how ineffectual bureaucracy is. And the people in government? Idiots

I feel a lot worse for Scrimgeour, he was put in charge when Voldemort was in open war w/ the Ministry, and he was treated like shit by Harry and co. because he didn't just blindly trust everything Dumbledore said. Then he was captured by Voldemort and brutally tortured for info on Harry's whereabouts, and he still never cracked despite knowing Harry's location, then he was murdered.

While Rowling never showed that there are good people in Slytherin and to the bitter end maintained that there's a House where they're simply all bad, it was nice of her to make the new minister of magic slightly more complex than "oh he's also bad and should just listen to harry and co"

Snape and Slughorn are pretty important Slytherins who weren't bad. Then we get people like Leta Lestrange and Merlin who were also good guys. And really even Draco is a decent guy one he grows up and gets away from his family. Slytherin = evil is a juvenile criticism.
