When you fire the charge shot, there's a small flash around the arm cannon. It does an insane amount of damage and it'll obliterate Nightmare's first and second phases.

I think I almost first tried Nightmare a bit ago but I came into the fight with less health than desired. May play more tomorrow, i got school in the morning. Wasn't expecting nightmare to be machine-y because I thought computer called it a bio organism.

My favorite Metroid game! But that isn't saying much since I'm not actually that big of a fan of the series. I don't like being lost or randomly wandering around in games, so the bit of extra linearity was appreciated by me.

But ignoring that the game itself was awesome. Lots of intense moments.

I just want to say, you're not alone in struggling with the damn spider boss. Fucker absolutely walled me back when the game I came out.

It took me far too many tries to figure out how to move around correctly in the fight against Yakuza. There's definitely a proper rhythm to each boss fight in the game, but they hit so hard and so fast it took me multiple tries to beat most of them.

that's what people say. I thought at first it was because it copied Samus and willingly gave itself over but people say that's the wrong way to look at it.

There was an old IRC channel I used to frequent back when Fusion came out, and pretty much everyone unanimously hated Samus A) being way too chatty and B) talking about pointless stuff like Adam whenever she did, or going out of her way to remind the player of her being a woman, which felt weirdly forced and unnecessary. One user put it best when they described Samus in this game as basically going, "Tee hee! I'm a lady!" Fusion had terrible writing. And the gameplay wasn't much better. And impossibly, for as badly as we hated Fusion, Other M would prove to be worse, somehow. It's like Fusion was Sakamoto's warm-up pitch before giving us the real terrible hitter.

Well a motif of the game is the idea of soulless organisms and essentially monsters that seek only to complete their goals, and Samus imagined the computer to be like this. But then it turns out the Federation, who are people like her, is behind the deadly mistakes, and that the computer she contrasted Adam with is in fact him, and makes the right choice.

Very cozy game

Along with Sonic CD, Zone of the Enders, Catherine, and Symphony of the Night I consider Metroid: Fusion to be one of the best instances of a game really capturing that deep anime vibe perfectly in a game setting.... without really going full-on anime at the same time.
