Just wondering.

I post on another forum and this dude who got banned has attempted to return several times in the past week. Within 10-15 minutes of making a post, he's gone. He's using VPNs and shit, but they still wipe him.

Why is that not a thing here? I mean, I know it used to be, but I just don't get what the point of a ban or suspension even is if people just jump on alt and continue? Every other forum treats a ban as a ban, but not here.

Is the ad revenue really worth the toxicity to the admin? Just an overall weird as fuck thing when no one else does this.

There is a thing that sets any account you make on your IP and device gets set to Read-Only which means it can't even visit CE. You have to make the account at a friend's house or a coffee shop with wifi etc.

It's not stopping anyone though, so it must be rare. Or these people are changing their IPs. But then most admit who they are, so it seems like they're intentionally wanting people to keep returning.

For the record, GameFAQs DOES have a KOS policy in place (the "policy" being Allen will do it whenever he feels like it, reasons don't matter.) The Lead mods have denied it so much that even the lower level mods don't believe it's there. But we all know Dawkins got KOS'd. I know it's there because it happened to me, only I got "purg'd on sight." As soon as I pushed a hot button issue about a staff situation my entire usermap got locked down. Every account went down. I thought it was a mistake and actually sent in a feedback ticket. The reply I got back from the nameless admin was that it was "common" for them to do that under certain situations. So I thought I'd take the opportunity to see how easy/difficult it was to bypass a usermap lock. It's not as easy as you might expect. GameFAQs has locked out a shit load of the free VPNs. I think it's set up so that if you confirm your email with a proxy service then your account automatically locks. There's ways around it, but the point is admins have taken steps to keep people from coming back after a usermap axe. And the admins definitely lockdown entire usermaps for... whatever mysterious reason they decide.

What I'm gathering from you guys is that they more than have the ability to stop these posters.

But they only use it very selectively or when it's Dawkins level.

Just weird thinking about how being suspended/banned means all of nothing here. Like, I don't think there's a single other forum like this out there.

I would almost say randomly. It feels that way to me. I mean, Dawkins got the axe, but Gavi didnt. So try to figure that one out. I got usermap purgd and Im honestly not even sure why and it was never explained to me why criticizing the staff demanded that my entire usermap be locked down.
