While I do not watch Dave Chapelle regularly, I have seen the jokes that people want to cancel him for (as discussed in this topic). Whether or not people want to cancel him for these jokes is up to them (again, essentially what I wrote in the topic title), but my problem with these jokes isn't that they are offensive, but rather that they are not funny at all (my first post in this topic).

His old stuff is better because he didn't have to waste half of his special explaining why the jokes he's telling aren't as offensive as people want them to be.

Sometimes jokes are just jokes.

The jokes lose steam when you have to have a 10 minute conversation before and after a 5 second punchline.

You didn't say that his trans jokes are unfunny; you said HE'S unfunny, so much so that he's apparently "clinging to relevancy" by making trans jokes. Your reasoning is fallacious because Dave's comedy isn't comprised of just trans jokes, nor are they necessarily what keeps his relevancy afloat. Those jokes just happen to be the most controversial. If a comedian does a 45-minute set and 8 of those minutes are jokes that you don't find funny, does it mean that the comedian isn't funny just because those jokes get the most attention?

Your reasoning was always flawed, because it's silly to make general statements like "XYZ isn't funny" if you're only basing that assessment on a handful of jokes that the media is making a fuss over. To later assert that he's relying on these specific jokes to stay relevant directly implies that it's his bread & butter, as opposed to the fact that people simply think he's an overall funny guy.
