Curious to see how it goes. Comes out sooner than Id realized.

Watched all of the original show. Kind of went the way of Game of Thrones. Seasons 1-4 were great. 5-6 wasokay. Ending not so much.

I hear there's a whole episode dedicated to Harris getting stuck on a treadmill and finding his way off lots of flashbacks from the old series too.

Not sure, havent seen much about it. But Ive heard its got the same writer as S01 of the original show. Dont know if thats true or not but if so, should be solid.

I'd sooner watch a Dexter's Laboratory reboot, but to each their own.

If they mention nothing about his former life and just play it completely soft reboot, it might end up good. If they drag up all the nonsense, itll be doomed from the start.

Deb has already been shown to be his new "dark passenger" so expect call backs to the old show.

Thats what Im hoping they do. Make it something fresh that you can enjoy going in blind. Only way to salvage it.

Tbh, I thought S8 was fine for the most part, just with a really abrupt and dumb ending.

As far as the reboot goes... well, I intend to give it a chance. That's all I can really say at this stage.

I haven't seen the original so dunno how it compares specifically, but the animated reboot of Corner Gas was great in and of itself. One of the best animated comedies I've found in a long time.

God of War was probably the most recent example. It was very good. TV though? Idk, doesnt happen that often.

I think the reboot should have been a replacement for the post-Season 4 of the original show, instead of continuing off the horrible last few seasons

I have very little hope it turns out good. Honestly I doubt ill check it out unless the reviews are insane.

Not only that, but his son shows up at the end of the latest trailer. So his past is definitely gonna come back to bite him and mess with his new life at one point.

I dont think thats necessarily bad though, it could be integrated properly despite the last season of the old show being awful. With the original show runner of the first four seasons coming back and how great the recent trailer looks, I think this season has a chance of being good for sure.

It was OK at best, definitely not on par with Season 3. Every one of the first four seasons is superior to the each of the last 4.

This is the only thing that gives me hope. Yeah, he was forced out after Season 4, which was the peak of the show. And the original creator, years ago, said he wanted the show to end with Dexter being hunted down (becoming the final antagonist of his own show), and eventually HIM waking up on the execution table. Which to me sounds perfect. Dexter should have been a 6 season show

The Prada storylines just weren't compelling and the Rita drama felt very forced. Season 3 is a slog to get through, particularly on rewatch.

From what I can tell people only dislike season 5 because Dexter and Lumen didn't ride off into the sunset.

Season 5 was a large step down from 4. The bad guys were dumb, and the ending was just stupid. "My dark passenger is gone so ima leave you now" just screamed "my contract for this season is done so bye". I thought 6 was even worse and that's when I stopped watching the show live, but eventually I went through and watched them all.

Out of the back half of the series, season 7 is the only one I would actually call decent. Not as good as 1 - 4, but compared to the rest, I thought it was actually pretty great.

I completely agree with 5 being better than 3. Hell, Id even say both 5 and 7 are better than 3, the Prada season is just not that great and definitely a slog to get through on a rewatch as mentioned earlier.

Id rank the series as: 1>2=4>7=5>3>6>>>>>>>>dogshit>>>>8

I feel like 3 started the downfall because it more or less started the "big name actor plays the villain" that the show gets stuck in. Every season had a big named actor as the antagonist and you could almost always tell how things would shake out.

Except 4. Damn that was good stuff. The show also blew it's most intriguing load in season 2: Dexter almost being caught. The first two seasons are absolutely amazing as hell, then it's like they just wanted to keep going but couldn't figure out more interesting stories.

Twin Peaks: The Return is one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces to grace the small screen.

Also depending on how loosely you want to go with the term modern the Battlestar Gallactica remake was pretty solid overall.

If you have small children I have heard nothing but good things about the recent Ducktales reboot.

And if you are or are raising a preteen girl, the new Babysitters Club show on Netflix is apparently fantastic as well.

But yeah overall it hasnt been a great track record, and my hopes for the new Dexter season arent particularly high.

If you have small children I have heard nothing but good things about the recent Ducktales reboot.

Honestly I felt it had enough stories for adults as well so as a Donald Duck world fan its great, dare to say better than the original.
