I've always wanted to play the Yakuza games but I kinda figured they weren't for me.

I saw Judgement on PSnow and played it and enjoyed it, and now I've been loving Lost Judgment. Is the whole Yakuza series this good? How similar are they? To me Lost Judgement has a Metal Gear Solid vibe to it, and everything from the serious stories to the goofiness and the side jobs, messing up pu ks on the street, all amazing.

Would it be worth it to grab some of the yakuza games to try? If so where should I start with them? I really enjoy the combat in Lost Judgement, so I would prefer to not start with Like A Dragon due to how different the turn based would be.

Nice, I'm also really enjoying Lost Judgment. Up to Chapter 11 and finally got all 6 play pass vouchers for Paradise VR.

And yes, you'd likely enjoy the Yakuza series. Yagami's fighting styles are different than Kiryu's, but the Yakuza games have the same thing going for them. Serious story with goofy side quests.

i'd say so, yes. the "feeling" is very similar across the games. Judgement is basically a Yakuza game with a different cast and some "detective" mechanics.

I'd say the Judgment games have generally been a little more grounded than Yakuza (a little), but other than that the tone is all there. The basic routine of cutscenes -> beat up dudes -> get roped into nonsense side content -> cutscenes is the same.

I'd rank Judgment below my favorites of the Yakuza series, for what it's worth.

0 made a great first impression on me; I don't know if I'd have stuck with the series if I started with Kiwami 1.

Even as someone who is in the middle of getting all Trophies in the series (I'm up to Like a Dragon), I can see this. The combat doesn't change terribly much as a whole. 0 and K1 play the same, K2 and 6 play the same, and 3-5 play predominantly the same. Basically if you aren't in it for the story and side stuff I get this.

That being said there's a reason I now have 6 Platinums beneath 5% completion and Kiwami which has like a 0.5% Platinum rate. I love the series and hope to see more people into it.

Also I agree with going with 0 to start. Kiwami has some stuff that sorta assumes that you played 0. The onlu thing you'll miss out on is some references to the first 5 games but honestly I played 0 first and it did not impact my love for it at all.

Its weird cause id normally complain more about games i dont really feel like playing but theyre good, quality games that you should play until you burn out.

Id strongly suggest 0 before kiwami. A main character wont mean much in kiwami without their background in 0. Imo.

I haven't played the Judgment series yet but 0 is widely considered to have the best story of the series so I hope it's worth it
