I will start off by saying that I don't hate landlords. A landlord that's just some retired old family that wants to rent off a house they love is fine.
A property manager though? They suck and I hate them.

In our basement there is a weird fake wall on particle board, the really thin and cheap wood that's meant to be temporary.
On this fake wall there is a light switch that controls a light deep into the basement. All that is weird, but fine whatever.

However, a WATER PIPE has burst BEHIND this weird fake wall. That was almost 5 hours ago and our terrible landlords still have not gotten the maintenance guys out here. We have not had water to our house for that long as I had to turn off the main water valve.

So now we have a weird fake wall with both electricity and water flowing behind it in our basement which was flooding before I turned off the main water. It's basically a horror movie.

We moved in on Sept 15th. It has been 16 days.

OH and to top it all off, we still don't have access to our detached garage where our trashcans supposedly are so we have piles of trash from the last two weeks in, you guessed it, the basement.

If there is a lot of request I'll take shitty pictures of the fake wall thing.

I learned when renting you don't count on any repairmen getting out until the next day unless you call super early in the morning and given that it's a weekend well unless your landlord is really awesome hope you can hold out until monday

With a burst pipe? Isn't that considered an emergency? I called them at 5:30pm.
In fact, the Warranty of Habitability specifically mentions working pluming, with a "reasonable time" for repairs, generally considered a day max.
I'm incredibly angry so this may change, but I swear I'm contacting the health department and a housing lawyer tomorrow if this isn't fixed.

Call the city building inspector if you wanna be real mean. Might red tag the place though if it's in rough shape.
I would get out of that place ASAP. You have a really bad manager. I had a similar situation. It's just a toxic situation that won't end unless you leave.

Sure fuckin sounds like an emergency. If you can't get water without destroying the house, that's kind of a huge deal. That's one sucky house warming. :[

Reasonable time usually amounts to a few days iirc which basically covers exact situations like this happening before the weekend. Like I said if your landlord is good then they might try to find someone who works weekends if their usual people don't. That only ever happened when I rented a house and personally knew the owner though

I myself had the heat go out on a friday in dead of winter one time and had to wait until monday for it to be fixed >_>

Yeah and their support is outsourced to India so on the phone it's not even someone local I can get any real info from. The most I hear is "I can confirm it was set as an emergency." Which is fucked up.

You're right and I know you're right and it's not okay for me to attack you at all, so sorry if I seem terse. Fuck this is making me angry. We're also in a new state and our closest friends are several hours away and we don't have a car, so we'd have to uber to a hotel if we needed water that bad. It's awful.

Update:
It still hasn't been fixed, my wife starts a new job on Monday and we haven't been able to shower since Friday morning, and we're pissed.
We're going to check into a hotel for the night so that she can shower and we can have a moment of reprieve.
