It does advance his character arc quite a bit but it's still heavily a comedy movie which I don't remember many since I only saw a few.

But I'd put it at Drunk Angry Girl/10

The best of the Thor movies by a decent margin.

Don't have much desire to rewatch it on its own though.

It's really fun to watch, but it's awkward to rate it in comparison to other MCU movies given how heavily it leans toward being a comedy with action elements rather than an action movie with comedy elements.

I'd put it in the upper third, but I don't know exactly where it would land.

I never saw ant-man but I thought that was meant to be comedic too

Aren't the GotG meant to be somewhat comedic too or is it just comedic moments?

Ant-Man isn't really comedically focused, it might have more laughs/gags than your average Marvel film but it is still a fairly standard superhero film overall, in terms of tone.

Honestly Ant-Man was really good and Paul Rudd does make for some great comedy moments.

Its gotten the most re-watches from me, and Id call it my favorite followed by the GotG movies. So clearly I prefer it when they go heavier on the comedy.

Theres only a few others Ive seen more than once.

Thor 3 is def my favorite MCU movie, but I can see why the humor can turn some people off it (it def rubbed me the wrong way when I first saw it in theaters). And it being a comedy makes it hard to rank among the more serious movies in the series.

Either way, if you aren't putting it in at least you're top 5, you're doing it wrong.

Top 5 for sure. Idk where exactly I'd rank it, but I've seen it many times, and watch it pretty much every time I'm on an airplane for whatever reason (they always seem to have it)

Easily the best Marvel film. One of the few I'd call respectable cinema.

My 2nd fav. It was what Thor needed, he was falling far behind as one of marvel's big three

That movie was hilarious. Then Jeff Goldblum happened and it became even funnier.
The only criticism I have is that Hela didn't get enough screen time.

Honestly if I were to distill my criticism down to the single most important point...it's that even Hela was a comedian. Everybody in the movie (except for Heimdall's minor role) was a comedy role. Nobody was the serious one. Even Hela was going around acting bombastic and making quips.

Valkyrie kinda struck me as the serious one.

I liked Hela being casually playful about killing people.

Yeah? Even though her intro was literally to fall off the ramp of her ship?

My biggest gripe was one scene where they took comedy too far

they made the destruction of asgard a joke, it was clearly a serious moment and subsequent outings have made it a tragic event
