It is amusing the reason many jobs are considered "good" jobs is quite often based on health coverage rather than "this is a great place to work" or "it pays well".

It's a bargaining chip to use against unions too, they could get a much better deal overall if healthcare was removed from the discussion entirely

This is really very true. With the way my job is going I probably would have quit by now and spent all day every day looking for a better job. But with three kids and a wife on my health... I'm completely handcuffed.

It's not tied to my job. I pay for it myself like you should.

Even if you take away benefits like health, dental, vision, etc, which people clamor over, you still need money to buy food and pay for other necessities. The value of a job won't decrease, imo. Just that the terms used will change but the prospects do not. "Get a job with benefits" becomes "get job."

yes but you could quit a shitty job and wait a bit while you find a good one

atm, you cannot do this if you have healthcare needs even if you have good money saved in the bank

Then you must not have very good coverage because insurance companies literally only offer like 50% max coverage for things like hospital visit to independent plans and can go up to 80% with a job.
Also, those shittier plans cost more to you without job.

It's hilarious to me that so many people are against having taxes taken out of their paycheck for inexpensive, universal healthcare, but have zero issues with having a portion of their paycheck taken out for insurance that still leaves them paying ridiculous prices and they're only allowed to use it with doctors within the network.

They rationalize it as having something others don't because they worked so hard to get a job that offered it or w/e
