First time I've impulse bought a VN in ages without research. It was between this and the Re:Zero VN, and then I saw the Re:Zero VN has shitty gameplay sections or something that they're too embarrassed to even have screenshot of on PSN, and was informed it has little to one of the darker elements from the series, so I decided to go with the unknown factor instead.

I know this is in the Root Letter franchise, but not to what degree it's repeats. It certainly doesn't remeble those games visually, and I have never actually touched them either. Liked the art from the screenshot, saw murder mystery hints, and crossed my fingers.

Basically just curious about what I should expect going in!

All I know is that Root Letter is one of the worst games ever. Should've gotten Root Double instead.

Looks like that one is a Switch exclusive, which would explain why I didn't see it in my sale browsing.

Another reason I nabbed this is it was giving me some Raging Loop aesthetic vihes, and not just because of the PQube logo of course.

I have no issue with Switch! Neither of those things area thing for me <_<

Well Steam technically could be, but not at the moment. I would never buy a game on PC unless I had to honestly. Not since I lost my 15 hour Remember 11 save....

Well this Root Double art style sure is....something. But I've seen worse! It's only like 65% awful Key style, and the trailer was good!

Also, there is no genre tag worse than "Adventure", I swear.

I have literally never payed a PC game where I didn't end up having some kind of technical issue. Not once! Even with Umineko and Higurashi, the last times I was forced to play games on a PC, I encountered a bunch of problems. TECHNICALLY lost over 60 hours in both games, though Chapter select meant it wasn't that big a deal. Did have to hold fast forward on Umineko for around 15 minutes, though.

I just vastly prefer playing on a closed system where I don't have to worry about anything.

As someone with a nice PC, I still appreciate the lack of hassle for most console games instead.

That said, VNs almost always work flawlessly on PC, plus I appreciate being able to switch to clicking a mouse if my hand gets tired of using the controller all the time, so they're not a genre this preference applies to! Unless you want to play them portable, which is fair (VNs in bed is good stuff).
