Rumor has it that apple is working on AR glasses. Maybe it was just before the times, sort of thing.

That tech will come back soon enough. I'm pretty sure it's still being used for research purposes, it just wasn't quite ready for prime time commercially. Partially because of the need for low cost, high accuracy, small form factor eye tracking, and partially because I don't think they were expecting such a societal pushback from people assaulting anyone wearing Google Glass for violating their privacy.

I don't know. In a world where apple is selling $1,000 monitor stands and $600 desktop wheels, and where cell phones are quickly approaching that price range anyway, the idea of having a dedicated AR display at $1,500 doesn't seem that unreasonable as a high-end commercial tech product.

People want to maintain the illusion of privacy while out in public. At least with cell phones you can look around and have a reasonable chance of knowing whether you are being recorded or not. With Google Glass it meant that somebody looking in your direction was potentially recording you and that made people nervous.
