I have never understood the appeal of Uber Eats/Skip/etc.

Usually the problem I have is

"It's 75% off!"
"You no longer have enough stuff in your cart to qualify for delivery"

If you want something delivered, from a place that doesn't have their own delivery service, it makes perfect sense.

I see the problem: US only.

I dont think this would happen anywhere else in the world.

75% off seems great until there's a delivery fee, 15% service fee, another 15-20% for tip, and higher menu prices.

And that's where you lose me. It's probably been a decade or more since I've paid for food delivery. I have the priveledge of car ownership so paying for delivery is beyond me, especially secondary services that cost even more and take longer.

not as bad with dashpass(doordash). not sure if the others have the same thing or not. it's $8 a month if you sign up for a year. otherwise $10 a month and cancel anytime. free delivery on almost everything unless the merchant doesn't offer it and still charges delivery in which case you just don't get that or go pick it up yourself. like half off service charges. still gotta tip and a lot of merchant upcharge their prices on the delivery apps.

if you use dashpass twice a month it pays for itself. sometimes you only need 1 order if it's a place that charges like $8 delivery. i got the annual one since it helps working full time and going to college. so on a day off i might use it and order lunch before class or dinner while i'm doing homework.

UP TO 75% with a cap at $25 and I'm sure a minimum....i'm betting they make more money off orders with that coupon than not.

That offer didn't exclude pickup, so you could have ordered, gotten 75% off, and picked it up yourself.

I regularly got 30% off coupons and used it for pickup. Now they say delivery only, so I don't bother using UberEATS.

The only time UberEats was ever worth it was when they had promos for "spend $25, get $20 off etc. With the fees and tip you'd end up with 2 entrees for $15.

obligatory reminder that it's only worth it when you can expense it for a company meal.
