he got fired from his job and hes spent the last two weeks leaving for whole nights or even a day or two at a time. when hes home he never seems to leave his room and hes barely eating or drinking. hes also perpetually texting someone every time i see him now

i could be off base but im getting pretty suspicious. idk how to approach it though

I honestly dont know. Weve been on all right terms but never really talked about personal stuff much. Ive asked him where he was a few times while he was out and he always gives me answers but theyre usually kind of iffy

I think if this is the case you have to ask them unfortunately. You could get blindsided if you dont.

I would also expect to have to pay all the rent. Even if he has money, its probably not going to rent.
