Im learning Japanese and know quite a bit of it to carry a conversation. You know whats worse?

Yearssss ago before I knew any of it, I thought Sayonara was French. So you're not the only one being thrown off by it.

I don't think I knew sayonara was Japanese until long after I was into Japanese culture. Pretty sure I knew about the word konnichiwa before I knew that sayonara was Japanese

Sayonara mean good bye forever or good bye I dont know when Ill see you again. The Japanese wouldnt use it much.

Youd say Ja ne or mata ne.
