If we finally get a USB-C iPhone, It'll probably be my next phone. I would love having all my devices use the same plug. Though depending on how close Apple is to that portliness iPhone they seem to want so bad for some stupid reason, this won't apply to them.

I wonder if this would apply retroactively, like if you bought an iPhone 12 from Apple's website it would have to be a 12 with a USB-C port. Otherwise we probably won't notice a major difference until probably well after apple abandons the charging port altogether.

USB-C is better than Lightning anyways...

Basically everything has moved on to USB-C by now, so all this really does is target Apple and tells them to quit the proprietary BS.

usb-c will be phased out, like all that came before.

also this will literally cost apple next-to-nothing to implement regionally. It's literally a tiny little part to source, and a small diversion on the manufacturing line. They already do that with different colours, resolutions, sizes, editions, regions, etc.

It's not going to specifically force USB-C. It's going to force a common standard. Which currently is USB-C. The commission adopted that as the standard in 2016.
