Were in the middle of getting bought out by a much bigger company.

A couple months ago, I cashed out 3 days of PTO, and they gave me 5 instead.

Now the paid me for Labor Day at time and a half, even though that holiday was normally unpaid. Even the paid holidays were only ever at straight time.

did they stop caring because theyre getting bought out? New company responsible maybe?

I dont wanna ask lol

Do yourself a favor, keep written records of the over payments and don't spend any of it

If your company is being bought out by a much bigger company, that doesn't sound too good. Maybe you're getting more money because layoffs or restructuring may be eminent.

When I worked at my University, they kept paying me for 3 months after the semester ended. I never said anything and they never asked for it

They keep saying nothing is gout to change as far as our position goes.

I do contracted security. Everyone who has a permanent post is just staying at that post.

I worked for one of the largest insurance carriers in the world and they threatened legal action over a similar amount to an ex coworker

I was having similar "issues" and it was just as you suspected -- my boss, on his last year and being replaced, was squeezing every penny out of the company for us before he left

I think that's more likely to lead to an audit where they'll realize their mistake

My co worker also used to work for the company thats buying us out, and he said they pay for most holidays.

so it is possible that the new contract is in effect, idk

Id give it a year. Hold onto it, dont spend it, like someone said, but after a year or so chances are likely they wont take it back.
