Because the whole point of Gatorade was to encourage hydration in athletes. It was literally invented for the University of Florida Gators football team. It's harder to drink large amounts of carbonated liquid and if you do, you'll feel bloated and gassy, not something you want when you're exercising heavily.

came in to say this. I might not be an athlete but I still enjoy gulping down large amounts of gatorade and do not want it carbonated. was landscaping for the summer, boss bought carbonated waters instead of gatorades some days. it sucked.
