I'm just kidding. There actually isn't much of a functional difference between 90% efficacy vs 80% efficacy, until these asshole news networks start framing it as "PFIZER TWICE AS MANY BREAKTHROUGHS AS MODERNA". Like, yeah, twice of an already tiny-ass number, sure.

Most of what I've read seems to imply that the Pfizer and Moderna shots are more-or-less the same, and the big difference comes from the fact that you wait an extra week between doses with the Moderna.

A study from the UK (where the vast majority waited 8-12 weeks between shots) showed that this only played a minor role. The majority of it seems to come from Moderna being a much higher dose, which didn't seem to matter until delta came around and raised the bar to where Pfizer's intentionally very minimal dosage (to minimize side effects, hence its popularity upon the launch of the vaccines) starts to lag behind.

But again, the media is overblowing the fuck out of it. Let's say 10% (complete asspull number) of unvaxed people would end up needing hospital attention due to delta. Moderna slashing that by 90% and Pfizer by 80% would mean the odds become 1% and 2%, respectively. Seems like a negligible difference on an individual scale, right? This isn't a perfect analogy but I'm just trying to illustrate the math being used here. There's a growing normie consensus that people who didn't get moderna may have made a mistake and I find that really irresponsible.

Everybody knows it's all about exclusives. Does Pfizer have any exclusive variants? Or even timed exclusives?

what do you mean? AZ is holding up pretty well, and thanks to being extremely cheap and being able to be stored in a normal refrigerator it's likely going to be the overwhelming choice of vaccine among poorer countries
