That's more than any network has won in like 50 years. Crazy shit.

And this is why Netflix cares about quantity over quality. If they put over a few dozen things, a few of them are bound to be lightning in a bottle.

I mean they won the most Emmys so that's a lot of quality too lol

A real issue is that streaming services on average pay crew members less because they're considered "New Media." They should change that.

Is "Emmy" actually indicative of quality or is it a meaningless thing used for marketing

To this day still, adult animation still isn't given the respect it deserves in America

And even then the winners can often be garbage.

Queens Gambit and The Crown were the big winners for Netflix, with both of them winning 11 Emmys each.

I mean it is the premier award for television in the same way that the Oscars are for movies. It is the E in EGOT after all.

I know that there are people who resent award shows in general, but the industry itself definitely cares about the Emmys. And as a general rule a show that wins Emmys probably is good.

I think the Emmys letting shows sweep probably played a part. They rarely gave one show all the awards in drama/comedy until last year. It used to be certain shows just had a stranglehold on a category. Like Veep controlled best actress in a Comedy for years.

Kinda unfortunate they chose a show with a bunch of white/British people to do it. So it didnt look good for diversity.

I mean the Crown is an excellent show and season 4 was its best season. The awards were well deserved.

Lack of diversity in a awards show is mostly a symptom of a problem, rather than a problem itself. The problem being that there is less opportunity for minorities to tell stories about themselves or star in stories in Hollywood. Fewer stories and fewer roles means fewer nominations. But honestly the nominees this year were pretty diverse. The Crown was just that excellent.

Well yeah and the Oscars are pretty shit, considering the amount of lobbying you need to do to just get considered
