>Threatened to leave Sega if Sonic Xtreme's devs were given access to his Nights engine. Sonic Xtreme gets cancelled after two of its devs almost die making it.

>Left Sega during Sonic 2006's development when he was that game's executive producer. Game ends up an unfinished mess and was panned.

>Directed Balan Wonderland, which came out this year. Game was panned and fingers are pointing to Naka.

Naka left Sega in March 2006, when Sonic 2006 was in development, to start his own company Prope. He was the executive producer of Sonic 2006 before he left, so his departure made the other people working on the game worry.

It's worth noting, though, that development of the game had already split in half before Naka left. Sega wanted a Sonic game released close to the Wii launch; porting Sonic 2006 would have taken too long, so they decided to make a brand new Sonic game for the Wii. Half of the team working on Sonic 2006 left to make the Wii Sonic game, which ended up being Secret Rings. Maybe with Sonic 2006's team having become so much smaller, Naka lost faith in the game and saw no reason to stay. He was certainly fed up with how Sega kept forcing Sonic Team to make so many Sonic games, which was a big reason he left.

Tf, if all of these is true, now I'm not feel that bad with the Balan Wonderland's failure. I'll look for this drama, good way to pass the time lmao.
