And at the same time the worst environments for a game of its type ever and a typical Kojima fan fiction level nonsense story

Like 90% of CE topics are the same way lol. CE is edgy/contrarian as f*** and will do anything to troll the TC/OP. -Touch

Yeah the mechanics are so fucking good but completely let down by the level design.

Uses a supressed weapon to shoot a guard, everyone automatically knows where I am.

Kojima finally got the memo that suppressed weapons aren't actually silent, so he ruined everybody's fun

i think i noticed that if the guard you shoot has no one looking at him, you won't give away your position, like they react a certain way from the gunshot's former direction

I really liked the actual places to sneak around in, but all the space between was pointless. Then again, it was kinda the only way to have all those individual setpieces.

Yeah, the gameplay is fantastic. I didn't mind some of the mini-levels where you rescue hostages, hijack airports, etc., but hoofing it over the desert or savanna to get there 900 times got a bit tiresome. Still, I guess you could deploy your own vehicles if you wanted, so going around in style is doable... Never really bothered that much, and never liked D-Horse either, haha.

Honestly, the "this well and truly sucks" memory I have of MGSV -- which pretty much overwrote all the minor quibbles -- is the unlocking system. This stuff taking days or weeks of REAL TIME is absolutely horrible, and even worse if you start doing the online events, which require a billion resources on top of it. Of course, Konami "conveniently" sells you the solution as MTX. Awful. Doing all the unlocking stuff again is the one reason why I never really wanted to do a full replay.

If it kept things a bit more containee but freeform how to complete the mission like Ground Zeroes then the level design woyld been much better.

And while I digged the story at first. It falls awkardly by the end of Chapter 1 and Chapter two was clearly rushed

The story itself isn't my problem. It's the complete lack of engaging narrative. Where's the classic MGS twists every few hours that recontextualise everything we've learned so far, raising the stakes further and further until a thrilling conclusion? But no. We get basically no story for 90% of the game, then everything is explained to us in audio tapes.
