I remember the beginning with Skyloft being pretty solid, then my mind goes fuzzy after that.

Groose, Zelda, and Ghirahim stood out to me, but I'm drawing a blank on any more characters other than Fi, who sucked.

The best Zelda story.

Groose is one of the better original characters, and Zelda is actually one of the most fleshed out versions of her. Still, the origin story aspect is lame. What's the point of having an origin story that itself has a mysterious origin? The people in the sky founded Hyrule but they came from some proto-Hyrule anyway...

Also the new races are lame and I don't remember typical Zelda substories even though there were a lot of quests for NPCs.

Pretty great cast of characters, even Link gets some good lines here (Nice hair). But Demise is laughably underdeveloped, even worse than Ganon usually is. In general I didn't really care about the actual story.

The best Zelda story without a doubt. Its not really about the origins of the world its about the characters and they really work well. The thing holding the story back is the presentation - the cinematic style made the lack of voice acting quite glaring while it hadnt been some great issue in earlier games.

The worst Zelda story without a doubt. There's too much in the way of "go fetch this for me" that acts as padding and that distracts from the overall narrative. The amount of things that happen like it's magic is asinine, and the dialogue is unmemorable. The ending is utterly terrible since 1) we never really got any hints that Ghirahim was actually a sword spirit like Fi, 2) the Impa thing was so so obvious, 3) Zelda's desire to stay on the ground came out of nowhere, and 4) the whole "I EXISTED SO GANONDORF WILL EXIST" is absurd. How is THAT an origin story? Ghirahim is also quite lame since he's never a threat - he's just an obstacle who's struggling to complete his goal. There's also Fi, who is awful, and mostly throwaway NPCs.

The only good thing I can think of is Groose - really the first time we got decent character development in Zelda (though Midna certainly came close), but it's a shame it was wasted on this drivel. His story would've been more effective had the pacing of the game been better.
